From The Vice Commodore:
The Vice Commodore is responsible for Membership, Communications, and Volunteer Coordination activities for the Club.

Laurie Conrod

It's a new day for me as Vice Commodore, wish me luck!

I joined GCSC when I moved to Naples in 2021 from California. I raced year-round there for 7 years, and in Connecticut for 7 years before that. I learned to sail on a Sunfish at summer camp; the best part was righting the boat after capsizing! My Uncle had a 32' sailboat when I was growing up and he introduced me to racing.

Cruising or racing, day sailing or power boating, being on the water is my #1 favorite place!

As you know, the Vice Commodore is responsible for Membership, Communications, Landside Events and Volunteer Coordination activities for the Club.

Would you like to help out with any of these club activities? We have a lot of fun! Email me below and let me know. I can fill you in on what's involved, and what's not!

Getting involved is a sure way to meet wonderful sailors with great stories, have sailing adventures that add to your stories, and share the comradery of this ancient mode of transportation - and now our sport.

From The Rear Commodore:
The Rear Commodore is responsible for the On The Water activities for the Club.

Bob Andreini

I want to welcome Laurie as our new Vice Commodore!  Laurie has been instrumental in organizing all our communications and supporting virtually every role in the organization from the Commodore to Flag Officers to Fleet Captains and all our members!  I have enjoyed working with her over the past year.  As we move forward, coordinating all our On The Water activities with Landside Events, Communications and Membership is critical to the success of our club.

Looking ahead to next season, we are planning quite the line up.  We’ve already announced our BOTY (Boat of the Year) series which entails some traditional events with a couple of new events we are very excited about.  Our Cruising Committee will meet later this summer and are working on a couple of new events, while including some of our favorites.

We have some exciting options we will be announcing soon for Day Sailing / Chartering right here in Naples Florida!  Our year would not be complete without the Sugden Sunday and Monday events.  This year we are working hard to expand the schedule to include a few more dates.

Stay tuned, read your newsletters, visit the club website, and if you are interested in getting involved in any of these activities, please reach out to me at rearcommodore@gulfcoastsailingclub.org

Cheers,
Bob Andreini

As always, please go to the  club website  where you can find all of the currently planned events and check back on a regular basis to look for additions and updates.

If you are interested in helping to plan and coordinate any of the events below, please let me know (RearCommodore@gulfcoastsailingclub.org).  We have a FUN group of members already highly engaged.

DAY SAILING

Fleet Captain Day Sailing: Peter Russo

Boats needed to take sailors!

Going out sailing for a day or few hours, would like to take other members out on your boat to help them learn more about sailing from your experience?

If so, please send me your dates and times when you are planning on going to sail and I'll setup a calendar event for people to sign up and go with you. Please include your name, email or text info, boat information, how many guests you can bring, and what each person needs to bring with them (lunch, beverages, gloves, etc).

β›΅β›΅β›΅β›΅β›΅β›΅β›΅β›΅β›΅β›΅β›΅β›΅β›΅β›΅β›΅β›΅β›΅

Attention - Who wants to go day sailing?

Or maybe a sunset cruise?

We are looking to charter a sailboat for up to 6 people right here in Naples!  There are a couple of options, and the cost would be about $80-100 / person.  This is an excellent opportunity to get out on the water for a half day, day or sunset cruise.

If this is of interest to you, please email: daysailing@gulfcoastsailingclub.org

We are looking to schedule several events over the summer and fall depending on interest.

Stay tuned for the next Day Sailing event, and always check the website Calendar!
Now Let’s Go Sailing,

Message from the Small Boat Fleet Captain

I am excited to announce that the Collier Country Sailing Center will shortly receive a large Hobie Cat with a Jib!! This boat can accommodate up to six individuals. This is going to greatly enhance the Sugden Sailing events.

Also, I am currently working with the Collier County Sailing Center to offer more sailing events at Sugden this coming season. More on this, once all details have been worked out.

Additionally for pocket cruiser enthusiast, beginning in October, I will be offering day sailing events on my Compac Legacy in beautiful Gulliver Bay. We will depart from Calusa Marina in Goodland and sail to Coon Key or Gullivan Key and back. Approximately 4 to 5 hour round trip sail.

As your small boat fleet captain, I am always open for suggestions on how to improve our small boat sailing program.  Please provide me with any comments and/or suggestions and ideas for increasing our on the water activities.

Thanks!!

Doug Foss

Small Boat Fleet Captain
