Want to Be a Hero?!

Unless a racing program is lucky enough to OWN a race committee boat, and a OWN a mark set boat, all yacht clubs and sailing clubs rely on wonderful power boat owners to volunteer their boat for the very interesting, exciting experience on race day (yes you are on your boat and still the Captain!).

Racers appreciate you very much!

In order to run our GCSC regattas, we need Captains to volunteer their boat to serve as the Race Committee boat and a Mark boat for 2 upcoming Regattas;
Saturday February 28
Saturday March 21

This is an amazing opportunity to observe the Race Committee and our PROs (Principal Race Officer) in action. As well as observe the race from a great vantage point!  You get to see the exciting starts and finishes as well as the wind/strategy happening out on the course.

What to Expect
Race Committee boat:
You will be reimbursed for gas and receive a free awards dinner ticket.
We will get you connected with Race Committee team (4 people) and the Flag system to coordinate where to meet.
Need to be out to the start area (generally off Naples Pier area) by 9 am and races usually end by 3pm
Need VHF radio and working Nav
You don’t need to know anything about racing - the race committee takes care of everything that needs to happen.

Mark Boat:
You will be reimbursed for gas and receive a free awards dinner ticket.
We will coordinate with you on picking up the buoys or get them delivered to you
Need VHF radio and Nav APP or Nav system onboard
Need to be out to the start area (generally off Naples Pier area) by 9 am and races usually end by 3pm.  The PRO on the Race Committee boat will communicate with you via radio where to drop or move the marks.
We will find someone who has experience in setting marks to help you!
